Base rates are typical 2026 weekly ranges (in USD at about US$1.15 per euro). APA is estimated at 30% in the Med and 10% on Caribbean inclusive terms. Tips are 12.5% in the Med and 17.5% in the Caribbean. Delivery fees, cruising permits and premium extras are not included. This is a rough guide only; your broker will quote exactly.
What happens when you enquire
- You share the basics: dates, region, number of guests and cabins, budget, and what matters most (water toys, a chef, a specific itinerary).
- A broker shortlists yachts. They check real availability, which changes week to week, and send proposals with photos, crew profiles and terms.
- You compare and choose. The broker negotiates, issues the charter contract (usually MYBA in the Med), and stays your point of contact through the trip.
Before you enquire: decide these four things
| Decision | Why it matters | Read |
|---|---|---|
| Month and region | Sets the season, weather, VAT and price | Best time to charter |
| Guests and cabins | Most charter yachts take a maximum of 12 overnight guests | First charter guide |
| All-in budget | Base fee plus 25–40% APA, VAT and tips | Charter costs |
| Booking window | Peak summer weeks and Christmas sell out 6–12+ months ahead | When to book |
Yacht Charter Journal is a publication, not a charter broker. Charters are arranged by Boatbookings, our referral partner, or for skippered and bareboat sailing in Croatia, by SkipperCity. We may earn a fee if you book, at no extra cost to you. Disclosure.
